Sequential strokes in a hyperacute stroke unit

چکیده
Vasculitis is a rare, but treatable condition that can present to hyperacute stroke units. Thrombolysis does not treat the underlying pathology, and a rapidly evolving clinical picture drives clinical decision often before all the investigation results are available.

Identification of Ischemic Stroke Stages in CT scan Brain Images Using Imagej Software
Rationale and Objectives: Ischemic strokes represent more than 80% of all stroke cases and are characterized by the occlusion of a blood vessel due to a thrombus or embolus. The temporal evolution of ischemic strokes occurs in four stages, i.e. Hyperacute, Acute, Subacute and Chronic. CT image by using ImageJ software help to identify stages of ischemic stroke in human brain as an alternative m...
متن کاملA biochemical marker panel in MRI-proven hyperacute ischemic stroke-a prospective study
BACKGROUND Computer tomography (CT) is still the fastest and most robust technique to rule out ICH in acute stroke. However CT-sensitivity for detection of ischemic stroke in the hyperacute phase is still relatively low. Moreover the validity of pure clinical judgment is diminished by several stroke imitating diseases (mimics). The "Triage® Stroke Panel", a biochemical multimarker assay, detect...
متن کاملSimultaneous detection and separation of hyperacute intracerebral hemorrhage and cerebral ischemia using amide proton transfer MRI.
PURPOSE To explore the capability of amide proton transfer (APT) imaging in the detection of hemorrhagic and ischemic strokes using preclinical rat models. METHODS The rat intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) model (n = 10) was induced by injecting bacterial collagenase VII-S into the caudate nucleus, and the permanent ischemic stroke model (n = 10) was induced by using a 4-0 nylon suture to occlud...
متن کاملEmergent combined intracranial thrombolysis and carotid stenting in the hyperacute management of stroke patients with severe cervical carotid stenosis.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE The timely re-establishment of intracranial perfusion, the effective prevention of early recurrent strokes, and the limitation of the incidence of reperfusion injury are the major factors that are key to successful treatment of patients with hyperacute stroke who had severe ipsilateral cervical internal carotid artery (ICA) stenosis. In an effort to reduce both the extent...
متن کاملبررسی تفاوت بین فاکتور خطرهای شایع سکته های مغزی ایسکمیک بر گردش خون قدامی و خلفی
Background and purpose: Ischemic brain stroke is one of the most common neurologic diseases and the second cause of death among adults. There is currently no information on the relationship between risk factors influencing anterior and posterior circulation. The most common ischemic strokes occur in the (anterior circulation) AC, while strokes occurring in the posterior circulation (PC) are...
